Even More Vampire: The Masquerade Games; Paradox Makes Offer to Indie Devs

Paradox Interactive has launched the Unbound initiative, which enables small developers to create games from the Vampire: The Masquerade series in exchange for the a share in the sales revenue.

Recently we have been blessed with games based on the license of the tabletop role-playing game Vampire: The Masquerade. It turns out that the company which owns the brand, Paradox Interactive wants to make even more of them, because it launched a program, which enables independent developers to create their own projects based on Vampire: The Masquerade.

  1. The initiative has been named Unbound and within its framework it is possible to makes games under the license of the fifth edition of the pen&paper original.
  2. Developers don't have to pay to receive a license, but in return they will have to donate 33% of the sales revenue to Paradox once the game is released.
  3. Projects developed in this way can be distributed exclusively on Itch.io.
  4. The developers will retain the rights to all elements of their games that are not directly associated with the brand, and will be able, for example, to use them in subsequent projects not based on Vampire: The Masquerade.

The first games from the Unbound initiative are now available for free

The Game of Elders.

The idea was born due to the success of Vampire Jam, an event during which developers had a month to create new games inspired by Vampire: The Masquerade. There were more than 80 submissions and eight were selected to become the first games released under the flag of the Unbound initiative.

  1. Descent - Survival horror, the action of which takes place in an old mountain hut possessed by vampires.
  2. The Chantry Trials - Puzzle game with horror elements, in which as a recently transformed vampire we have to prove our worth by completing a series of challenges.
  3. The Autumn People - First person shooter taking place in Phoenix.
  4. The Game of Elders - A strategic card game.
  5. The Prince of Nothing - comedy visual novel adventure game.
  6. Praxis - A mixture of 4X strategy and RPG, in which we try to dethrone the vampire prince of Portland.
  7. Prodigal - Point-and-click adventure game set in a gloomy mansion.
  8. Vampire: A Crown of Thorns - A retro-style action adventure game in which we try to destabilize the balance of power in the vampire community.

All of the above titles are free to play, although they may turn into commercial projects in the future as they develop.
