Forza Motorsport has finally parked in official retail stores. It’s the 8th installment of the series despite the lack of number in its name. It’s been highly anticipated part of Forza family as it’s been 6 years since the latest release. So far though, the game is not very popular on Steam as it’s included in Game Pass. This seems like a lot more popular and reasonable decision among players since the title is priced at $70. Despite that, there are a few reviews on Steam that are rather tepid and categorise the reception as mixed. Most of the pleas are pointing out poor technical state of the game and frequent FPS drops. If you also are affected by this, we have gathered what is known about it so far.

FPS Drops in Forza Motorsport

There has been a discussion going on in the community about FPS drops in Forza Motorsport. This issue seems to be rather uncommon one, as it causes FPS to drop after some time of playing. That fact itself is not that unusual, but rather the temporary solution that the players have found. It has been reported that pausing the game or changing the screen mode (for example from fullscreen to borderless) fixes the framerate for some time. There have also been cases where after playing FM for some with the lower FPS, suddenly the game started working a lot smoother and gaining frames.

This strange behaviour may indicate that Forza Motorsport is not working correctly with dynamic DPI scaling. In a nutshell, it is a functionality that allows the game to change its resolution depending on available processing power of your machine. This theory holds up as some of the affected players have noticed that locking fps in game menu and enabling V-Sync makes the framerate a lot more consistent.

It is worth noting that the drops happen even on very powerful machines that the players have tested the game on. Due to that fact, it can be implied that the title is poorly technically implemented, yet it is nothing that cannot be patched. Since this has been consistently reported issue by the players, we can count on Turn 10 studio to look into this with high priority.
