Gwent: The Witcher Card Game beta gets ranked matches and redesigned progression system

If you're lucky enough to be playing Gwent: The Witcher Card Game's closed beta, you will be happy to know that the game has received a major update. This one introduces ranked matches and redesigned progression system.

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, currently available as closed beta on PC and Xbox One, has received an update adding a bunch of new cards (namely 20, not to count premium ones), ranked matches, and redesigned progression system. CD Projekt RED discussed changes introduced by patch 0.8.33 in this video:

As for the progression system changes, from now on, players will be rewarded not only for the entire matches they win, but also for individual rounds (each half of a crown counts) – this means that even if you loose a game despite having fought like a lion, you’ll still get some reward (e.g. a barrel, card or gold). However, it was also necessary to push players’ progress down to level 10 (as long as they were over it) – well, that’s beta for you. This is because at level 10 players get introduced to ranked matches, a new, season-based competitive game mode. More details on that, as well as the patch notes, can be found on the official website.

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game closed beta has been up and running since late October 2016. The title has still got no solid release date, but it’s likely a couple of months ahead. The game will launch on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 in free-to-play model with optional microtransactions (including paid single player campaigns).
