CD Projekt Red Lays Off About 30 Employees
CD Projekt Red is parting ways with more than just The Molases Flood staff. About 30 more people who worked on Gwent will leave the ranks of the Polish developer in 2023.
Developers of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 have had a a successful quarter. Despite this some thirty members of CD Projekt Red will lose their jobs by the end of the year.
The Polish developer revealed this information in a post on the official blog of Gwent. This is because it is the team of this card-based spin-off of The Witcher is facing reductions after the the announcement of termination of its support.
As you may remember, CD Projekt is expected to create new content for The Witcher and improve the game's balance until 2024, when it will entrust the development of the card game to players as part of the so-called GWENTifinity project. The servers will remain open, although the team responsible for the game will be reduced significantly.
Some of the former developers of Gwent has already found work on one of the many other projects developed by CD Projekt Red . Unfortunately, about 30 people will have to leave the studio, with four of them parting ways with the team as early as June (via IGN).
These are not CD Projekt's first layoffs this year. In May, the company lost 29 people, with these being mainly employees of The Molasses Flood.
