Gwent: Thronebreaker story campaign revealed

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is built on competitive multiplayer, but that's not all the game has to offer. Meet Thronebreaker, the first story campaign, tailor-made for single player experience.

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game has been playable for some time now, despite still being available only as beta. We know, however, that competitive multiplayer is not all that the game has in store. And now CD Projekt RED has revealed the first story campaign coming to Gwent, entitled Thronebreaker.

The campaign tells the tale of Meve, a war-veteran queen of Lyria and Rivia, two of the Northern Realms – the one who knighted Geralt for valor in a battle and granted him the title Geralt of Rivia, the story of which is described in the Witcher books. Here’s the reveal trailer, which introduces her motives for stepping back onto the path of war.

The Thronebreaker campaign is going to feature a unique interactive map, which the players will get to explore freely. While controlling the main protagonist, you will be able to pick up side quests, engage in custom-made story battles, manage resources, and build an army of your own. Find out more about that on Gwent’s official website.

Gwent: Thronebreaker is going to launch this year on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. While the multiplayer experience in Gwent is completely free-to-play, story campaigns are not. For now we don’t know the price for the first one of those.
