Strongly resembling in its visuals the first Diablo and trying to recreate its atmosphere, Halls of Torment is a very well received production. Despite being in Early Access program, the title has already built a healthy fanbase. The game is not the easiest, but there are ways to make it more accessible. One of the mechanics involves potions that can be crafted using herbs and other ingredients. How to find them and what can make it faster? Let’s dive deeper.

Potions in Halls of Torment

In order to start brewing potions you will have to complete “The Cupbearer” quest. It becomes available in Chapter III: Forgotten Viaduct. The task is pretty straightforward as it requires you to rescue the friendly NPC called Cupbearer. Doing that will move him to your Camp.

Initially, after completing the quest, you will have only access to Strong Wine potion that will make it possible to reroll the whole section of traits upon levelling up.

Currently, there are 3 other potions in game:

  1. Potion of Oblivion (Ingredients: Amanita, Bluecap, Dragon Nettle) – banish a trait and its follow ups.
  2. Potion of Memories (Ingredients: Coppergrass, Firepaw, Truffle) – guarantees selected trait to appear during the next level up.
  3. Reverberant Tinkture (Ingredients: Belladonna, Salsify, Wallflower) – applies selected trait effect twice.

Herbs in Halls of Torment

As previously mentioned, in order to get potions, you will need to find herbs. They appear in random locations in specific Halls:

  1. Chapter I: Haunted Caverns – Bluecap, Coppergrass, Truffle;
  2. Chapter II: Ember Grounds – Amanita, Dragon Nettle, Firepaw, Salsify;
  3. Chapter III: Forgotten Viaduct – Belladonna, Wallflower.

How to get Herbs and ingredients quickly

There is limited number of herbs and ingredients that you can find in a single run. Use sorceress as your class since she has the best Movement Speed traits. Additionally, equip items that are increasing Movement Speed to clear the map of herbs as fast as possible. You can use Guiding Star and Runner Shoes.

Equipped Gatherer’s Charm in Halls of Torment, developer: Chasing Carrots

To make herb easier to find and avoid roaming endlessly, equip Gatherer’s Charm. Not only it increases Movement Speed by 10% but also becomes visible next to experience bar and shows green beams pointing in different ways. The beams point you in the direction of herbs. The closer the ingredient is, the stronger and brighter the beam will become.

Along the way, kill as many enemies as possible to level up and choose traits that increase your Movement Speed even further. If the traits don’t offer any speed buffs, use Strong Wine to reroll your options.

If there are no beams coming out of the charm, that means that you have gathered all the herbs available on the map. Whenever necessary get back to the Hall of your choosing and start the new run using the same method.
