Helldivers 2 Devs Tried to Fix One Million Accounts. Instead, Players Received Crashes

The developer of Helldivers 2 hoped to fix the progression system on „millions of accounts.” Instead, players are complaining of numerous crashes and problems with Galactic War.

Helldivers 2 was recognized by players, in part due to its highly communicative devs. Nevertheless, it doesn't imply that they unquestioningly commend the developer's actions and the game's current state. Even after the developers repaired one million accounts, Helldivers 2 players have some complaints about Arrowhead.

Yesterday's hotfix focused on fixing the player progress tracking system. The players noticed that the game didn't give out rewards for completed missions or progression at different difficulty levels. Affected players had no choice but to visit the dedicated channel on the Helldivers 2 page on Discord, as this has been a persistent issue since the game's release.

The devs were now supposed to introduce a more general fix, eliminating this problem. But not for everyone (if anyone), as the developers themselves informed (via Discord). However, many players experienced an unexpected game crash after the Helldivers 2 update.

According to some reports (via Reddit), widespread crashes are linked to the so-called Arc Weapons. But, there are also records from players who haven't experienced any issues with this weapon.

Furthermore, Joel (yes, THAT Joel) reported (via Discord) about a glitch related to progress tracking in Galactic War.

At least the last patch fixed the bug related to inviting friends to the game...

Helldivers 2 "incredible" physics

Players were clearly not pleased with the scale of the bugs in the new version of H2, although it's not surprising to see new problems in updates. In contrast to the credible physics system, whose occasionally bizarre operation provided players with a lot of fun, one of the developers commented on their remarks (via X).

According to the internet user, a fan sent a clip to the CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios under one of Johan Pilestedt's many posts, which was supposed to be provided to him by his acquaintance. He didn't want to publish it himself, probably because it presents his death in a rather humiliating way. Let's just say that it shows an unfortunate accident involving the "lid" of the capsule.

In response to an Internet user's "objection" about the "unreliable" physics system, Pilestedt said that such situations are the result of the "philosophy of simulating everything and just accepting the outcome that creates these moments." It fits into the assumption made by the devs; that everything in the game "must make sense." Even if it results in absurd situations (besides, let's admit it: the player's frustration from the video was brief, but he will likely remember this incident for a long time).
