Third Enemy Faction in Helldivers 2 in First Pictures. Old Friends May Return

There's a lot going on in Helldivers 2. Players completed an impossible task, encountered new-old enemies, and apparently have a dislike for yogurt armor.

The situation on the front of Helldivers 2 has improved. The players managed to complete the latest Major Order, previously considered impossible. They literally just defended the last of the 10 planets from the invasion of Automatons - Ustotu. As if the fight against the "unexpected" invasion of machines and the constant attacks of Terminids were not enough, fans have stumbled upon further traces of a new threat to Democracy.

We have known for a long time that Super Earth has more than two enemies. Already after the release of the second Helldivers, players reported traces or events that would confirm the return of a familiar faction from the first installment of the series: the Illuminate. As you can see, some of them were hidden in the game files, but were quickly discovered by dataminers (via Reddit).

This is how we came across the enigmatic portal (through which enemy forces are meant to appear on planets), an adept/mage, known as a "tripod," and... a "guy/dude" ("Guy;" found under this name by Reddit user IronS1ghts in the game files). Some of these and other findings indicate that if these adversaries reach HD2, they will emerge at different levels (where, naturally, higher level = increased threat to Democracy).

It's intriguing because the Super Earth Council has confirmed that the Illuminate forces have been completely eradicated from space. And yet the official statements were absolutely always consistent with the truth.

Apart from these unpatriotic doubts, fans of the series point out that the Illuminate in HD2 differs from what we know from the first installment. Apparently, the destruction that was meant to completely defeat them had previously (comparatively) led this peaceful race to alter their ideology. Or something even worse happened to them during the 100 years that passed between the history of both parts of the series.

We know that "The Illuminate are coming"... I mean, the traitors of Democracy have been claiming this for a long time. Intermittent radio messages in the game contradict the official and entirely accurate information about the extinction of this faction. Players also noticed other indications on this subject. For instance, statistics showing the number of Illuminate killed (via Reddit).

Nonetheless, remember the words of the devs themselves: not everything that is in the Helldivers 2 files will ultimately make it into the game. It's also better not to count on the disappearance of the hated planet, dubbed "space Australia" by some players (via Reddit).

However, the council of Super Earth referred to the campaign against people wearing... yogurt armor (via X). It's about the blue version that was a bonus for placing a pre-order, which, according to the backstory, was part of a frozen yogurt marketing campaign. Apparently the lack of an official PvP mode doesn't stop some "fans" from tormenting other players. After all, what is friendly fire for?
