Like a Dragon Ishin takes the Yakuza series back in time, to Japan in the Bakumatsu period in the late 1800’s. The main character, Ryoma, is a samurai in the Shinsengumi, an elite group of swordsmen commissioned by the military government. Many harsh battles and deep political intrigues await, but the game also offers substories that are lighter in tone. One of them is Can I Quote You On That?, also known as the interview substory.

  1. Make sure you’ve completed up to chapter 7 of the story,
  2. Head to the northern part of the East Umekojicho district in Rakugai,

  1. Encounter a Kawaraban Vendor being chased by a group of Ronin,

  1. Be wary of the enemies trying to surround you and dodge their attacks,
  2. Defeat the Ronin and talk to the Vendor,
  3. Agree to the interview at Shinsengumi Barracks in Mibu.

Interview substory – correct answers

“Can I Quote You On That?” features a fight, but the main difficulty is choosing the right answers to the journalist’s questions. In this guide you will find out how to complete the interview successfully.

After finding the wannabe journalist at the top of the stairs in the Barracks, you will need to answer his questions. There are three options each time, and choosing some answers will lead to a more valuable reward and more Virtue for completing the quest.

  1. What does killing a man mean to you?

Recommended answer: It’s my duty, nothing more.

  1. Do you have a message for any loyalist shishi out there who wants to cause problems for the Bakufu?

Recommended answer: Go home and be family men. or Better have a will ready.

  1. What’s your type when it comes to the ladies?

Recommended answer: Someone I get along with.

  1. As the Captain of the Third Division, what does the Shinsengumi mean to you?

Recommended answer: It’s a place for true warriors. or It’s a path for true strength.

  1. What should we common folk do if we run into the Shinsengumi?

Recommended answer: Maintain your innocence.

Congratulations: you’ve taken steps to improve the reputation of Shinsengumi among the common people! As thanks, if you’ve chosen the best answers, you will receive an Eye of the Dragon, a rare and valuable crafting material which can be used to make the Dragon Slayer Katana, and Virtue. If you pick some wrong answers, you may receive a Thousand-Year Tree Branch, and if most of your answers left a negative impression, you will get a Platinum Grain.
