Pacific Drive is a fresh release in the survival genre. The game is about searching valuable loot in the dangerous Zone. There are many ways to die during your trips. Of course, for many players, the first impulse is to save the game. However, there may be a not so nice surprise waiting for them, as it is not possible to keep your progress safe everywhere. Let’s talk about it.

How to Save in Pacific Drive

Players who start their adventure in Pacific Drive may be surprised by the fact that it is impossible to save anywhere. You can do that manually only in your Garage. Of course, the title has also autosaves, but they are not available during the ongoing level. The game does them when you enter junctions. Except from these situations, your progress can be lost.

On the Steam forum developers explained their reasoning behind this decision:

Due to the scope of the game, and our focus on providing a robust and varied experience across a high number of trips into the zone, with variable map sizes, anomaly populations, and the amount of hazards, we had to make technical sacrifices early on in the project that makes revisiting this save behavior not feasible. While we understand why this is highly requested, it’s not something we plan on revisiting for those reasons.

As you can see, developers stay firmly by their choice. Players have to get used to this mechanics and plan their gameplay accordingly.
