The Invincible Delayed to 2022

Video game adaptation of Stanislaw Lem's novel The Invincible was supposed to debut in the second half of this year. However, devs at Starward Industries decided to chang plans - the release was delayed to 2022.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Starward Industries announced that the release of The Invincible has been pushed back to 2022;
  • The game is an adaptation of Stanislaw Lem's novel and is to be a retrofuturistic adventure thriller;
  • The company will use the extended work time on the title to improve its overall quality and work on different language versions.

Polish company Starward Industries, currently working on The Invincible - a game adaptation of Stanislaw Lem's novel under the same title - announced that the title's release will be delayed until 2022.

The decision was dictated by a number of factors, including the extension of work time on the game, but also the necessity to conduct additional quality tests aimed at eliminating potential bugs.

As we read in the official announcement:

"The Board decided to increase the development budget in order to expand the game's content, while maintaining a very high quality of the product, and to increase the marketing budget in order to reach a wider audience. The additional funds will enable us to expand the creative team, outsource additional work, conduct more quality tests, increase the number of languages in which the game will be available and increase marketing expenditures, all of which will result in an extended dvelopment period."

On the one hand, the extended time of work is understandable - the creators want to release the product in the best possible condition, and if the decision to postpone the work has been made now, even though a specific release date has not been announced (only the second half of 2021 was mentioned), it means that Invincible still requires a lot of work. On the other hand, it's a bit of a shame that the creators won't make it with the original plan, which was to release the game on the 100th anniversary of the birth of the famous writer.
