Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic was finally released. The newest installment of the legendary horror series takes us far into the past to the 1970s. We witness the beginning of the Fazbear Entertainment history. I must admit that we learn a lot of interesting information that completely changes our perspective and greatly influences the lore. In the middle of everything we have our protagonist – Arnold. So, who is this man? What is his fate? Let’s answer these questions.
Warning! This part contains spoilers from FNAF Secret of the Mimic endings. You read it at your own risk.
Arnold is a new character in the series, and he doesn’t look like someone special. He is simply a technician that works for Fazbear Entertainment. We don’t know much about his past. In fact, it is certain that he is a rather disrespected employee of the company who is extremely overworked. At the beginning of the game, he gets a task to recover a mysterious prototype from the workshop owned by a missing company’s contractor named Edwin Murray.
As he explores the facility, he discovers many secrets about Edwin Murray’s family tragedy and the shady tactics of Fazbear Entertainment (in particular those of Willam Afton). Along with the story, you can unlock one of the three endings to Arnold's story:
We don't learn much about Arnold from FNAF Secret of the Mimic. He is also not an important part of the lore (there was no trace of him until now). He is merely a narrative tool. This game is all about learning the story of Fazbear Entertainment not the protagonist himself.
