Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic was finally released. The newest installment of the legendary horror series takes us far into the past to the 1970s. We witness the beginning of the Fazbear Entertainment history. I must admit that we learn a lot of interesting information that completely changes our perspective and greatly influences the lore. In the middle of everything we have our protagonist – Arnold. So, who is this man? What is his fate? Let’s answer these questions.

All we know about Arnold in FNAF Secret of the Mimic

Warning! This part contains spoilers from FNAF Secret of the Mimic endings. You read it at your own risk.

Arnold is a new character in the series, and he doesn’t look like someone special. He is simply a technician that works for Fazbear Entertainment. We don’t know much about his past. In fact, it is certain that he is a rather disrespected employee of the company who is extremely overworked. At the beginning of the game, he gets a task to recover a mysterious prototype from the workshop owned by a missing company’s contractor named Edwin Murray.

As he explores the facility, he discovers many secrets about Edwin Murray’s family tragedy and the shady tactics of Fazbear Entertainment (in particular those of Willam Afton). Along with the story, you can unlock one of the three endings to Arnold's story:

  1. When you complete the main quest, you must exit the warehouse by the garage. In this ending Arnold is killed by the Mimic and put inside a prototype suit.
  2. At the end, when you open Parachute.exe in the terminal, you get access to a secret hatch. This will lead you to the ending where you burn down the facility. Unfortunately, it is hinted that Arnold dies in the car crash and the Mimic escapes.
  3. The last ending requires you to find all 25 collectibles and play Moon.exe. This will give you Glitched Permission and lets you “heal” the Mimic.

We don't learn much about Arnold from FNAF Secret of the Mimic. He is also not an important part of the lore (there was no trace of him until now). He is merely a narrative tool. This game is all about learning the story of Fazbear Entertainment not the protagonist himself.
