League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics Devs are Making a Brawler

Tom Cannon from Riot Games boasted during the Evolution Championship Series 2019 that the studio is working on a new IP. Contrary to appearances, it will not be a MOBA, but a brawler. Unfortunately, that would be it in terms of solid facts.

Riot Games is doing a brawler.

Ever heared of League of Legends? You know, that little, low-profile game from Riot Games? It turns out that the studio is working on a completely different game. This time it won't be a MOBA, it'll be a brawler. Where did we get these reports from? Well, let me tell you. In 2016, Riot Games bought Radiant Entertainment - a studio that was just in the middle of making a fighting game. The effect of joining forces was suposed to become Rising Thunder. Eventually, the game did not see the light of day, and the devs quickly announced that the team would start working on a completely new IP.

Three years have passed, Donald Trump has become president of the USA, and we just learned that the said new IP is in the pipeline. This was confirmed by Tom Cannon (employee of Riot Games) at the EVO 2019 tournament, of which he is the founder. EVO, or Evolution Championship Series, witnessed Cannon's declaration, which reads as follows:

I want to be able to let people in on maybe the worst-kept secret in the universe. We are working on a fighting game for Riot.

And that would be it in terms of solid facts. Tom Cannon only suggested that the fighting games deserve to reach a much larger audience. What does he mean by that? It's hard to say, although, according to the dev, the company is making progress. Anyway, we will have to wait a lot for the effects of the studio work, because the game is still in the production phase. On the other hand, we can always wonder. What do you think of a fighting game set in the LoL universe? There would definitely be no shortage of playable characters, and each of them would have its own unique abilities. Add to this the free gameplay model (with microtransactions) and we have a recipe for success. All that remains is to wait.
