Starting today, you can watch the second season of one of Marvel's most important shows. The first season of Loki is currently the MCU's most popular TV production, and the new installment has a high bar to clear.
The first episode of the second season of Loki is now available on Disney+. Tom Hiddleston once again plays the main character and the series will again feature Owen Wilson, among others. Consisting of six episodes, the show faces a difficult task, as Marvel's Cinematic Universe has not had a good run recently. Fan expectations of Loki are therefore high.
The original series is still considered the best Marvel show available on Disney+. It was in it that Kang the Conqueror was introduced, who was to become the new main antagonist. It is him that the superheroes will have to defeat in some way. So the second season should at least maintain the high level of the previous series.
Much more is hoped for by the series' executive producer Kevin Wright, who hopes that the new season of Loki will build the foundation for the future of Marvel's Cinematic Universe (vide Inverse):
"Will the end of the show reveal much about the future of the MCU?
That's what we hope to do with Loki. We are playing for high stakes. We're doing big things and we hope to inspire future stories."
Recall that the first season of Loki ended with the timeline being broken, allowing the Kangs to move on to future realities. Now the main character must traverse the multiverse to find former allies and save the "soul of the Time Variance Authority." Subsequent episodes will appear weekly:
Loki is available exclusively on Disney+.
