Vector3 has revealed plans to develop Sunkenland, a survival action game, inspired by movie Waterworld, that debuted on Steam Early Access in late August.

  1. The developers will enable endless open-world gameplay by adding the ability to respawn for loot and enemies.
  2. A system for capturing enemy-occupied islands will be implemented, promoting strategic gameplay revolving around controlling territories.
  3. The devs will experiment with more dynamic gameplay, allowing for new factions to appear after the destruction of current ones.
  4. We can also expect the introduction of random map generation.
  5. Base building capabilities will be expanded by adding new structures and materials, such as marble.
  6. The devs also want to enrich underwater gameplay by adding new places for exploration.
  7. Interactivity of the game world is to be enhanced. This is to be helped by the introduction of interactive furniture and objects, such as CD players and sofas.
  8. We will get more options for defending bases. For example, there will be an option to use landmines and cameras.
  9. The developers promise more diverse islands for carrying out raids with unique challenges and rewards.
  10. We can also count on the introduction of higher technology levels and new crafting recipes.
  11. The variety of combat mechanics will be increased by introducing a wider range of weapons, both melee and ranged.
  12. There are also plans for richer character personalization by adding more clothing options.
  13. New AI factions will appear.
  14. The story will be expanded.
  15. We can also count on expanded list of available units with new options, such as cargo boats and attack helicopters.
  16. The developers plan to improve optimization and enhance many technical aspects.

Sunkeland debuted on August 26 and is available exclusively on PC. The developers anticipate that early access period will last about a year. The game has met with a warm reception - on Steam 76% of player reviews are positive. The popularity of the title is also growing all the time - yesterday it set a new activity record of 26,154 concurrent users.
