3-5 More Hours Needed to Fully Level Up Character in Marvel's Avengers

Developers at Crystal Dynamics decided to bring players up to speed on the controversial change planned for Marvel's Avengers XP system, which is set to go live on March 18. In a Reddit post, they note that it will take 3-5 more hours to level up a single character, and the goal of the update is to improve gameplay.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. The developers of Marvel's Avengers have decided to once again explain the controversial changes planned for the game's experience system;
  2. In a note posted on Reddit they argue that their goal is to increase the satisfaction derived from the gameplay.

A few days ago we wrote about the fact that the developers responsible for Marvel's Avengers - Crystal Dynamics - are planning to make changes to the experience system. The aim is to slow down the pace of character progression. The ideas discussed by the devs were not to the liking of players, so the former decided to once again explain the idea behind them. They did so in a post on Reddit.

"The problem we were seeing, and hearing, was that you would immediately get more skill points than you had time to review, apply, and get used to, before embarking on your next mission and gaining your next few levels. Hopefully, you can see the issue here," the note reads.

After the changes, fully leveling up a single character should take the average user about 3-5 hours more. Of course, this applies to each character we'll play, so in practice, players will have to do much more grind. Is this good or bad? It depends on how to look at it. In the aforementioned note, the developers argue that the current progression system is simply too fast.

"We want people to level up, in fact, we really want to see more people level up more Heroes, as playing the full Avenger roster should be the most fun thing you can do, but we don’t want the leveling up experience to be too overwhelming or diminish exploring each skill purchase," the developers argue.

Marvel's Avengers is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S. The update introducing the changes discussed in this text is to debut on March 18 - along with DLC adding the character of Hawkeye.
