Maxccureached error protects REPO from piracy. It's a surprising ally
Many people have recently reported issues with Maxccureached error in REPO. It seems that the problem is connected to illegal copies of the game.
We are used to the fact that when we hear about the game that is played by tens of thousands of people (or more), it is usually an AAA title. However, from time to time even indie games reach the top of Steam charts and gather numerous followers. The recent example of such a title is REPO. The game draws on the idea popularized by Lethal Company. So, be prepared to gather valuable objects (use drones to make your work easier) and run away from enemies. However, recently, many players encountered a new obstacle that prevents them from enjoying the title. Fans report an issue with Maxccureached error on the official Discord channel and Steam forums … The source of this problem is quite an interesting one.
Maxccureached as a sign of being a pirate in REPO?
Maxccureached is an error which shows itself when the server limit is reached. However, in the case of REPO, where there is no main server and games are hosted by players, it should not occur. It seems that the answer to this issue is quite simple – piracy.
First reports of Maxccureached error are quite recent, and they were definitely not there around the release date. All of them begin to show up after anti-hacker measures taken by developers. Of course, there is no proven direct connection between those two but it shows at least that the issue with dishonest practice is something which creators notice. On the other hand, one of the Reddit threads states that the problem is due to the small capacity of pirate servers.
The fact is that one of Semiwork (REPO developer) representants wrote a comment on the discussion about the error (on the official Discord):
Safest bet is to delete the cracked game and buy it on Steam, then you won't have the maxccureached problem. Try saving money for a while and hopefully you can have it very soon
It is probably as close to the official acknowledgement that this issue is caused by piracy, as we can get. Regardless of the source, Maxccureached is definitely a good thing for players, as it seems to punish only (or at least mostly) those who downloaded the game illegally. So, if you experience the error, buy REPO, especially as it does not cost so much. Let’s support developers to let them create more and more fun games for us to play.
