Mysterious Justice Axe stat in Deltarune sparks player confusion
There is a Justice Axe weapon in Deltarune that has a mysterious “???” statistic. However, players have their suspicions about its usefulness.
Deltarune is the second game of the well-known indie developer Toby Fox. This production is famous for its many secrets that are just waiting to be discovered by players. It may take some time before we solve some of the mysteries. One such thing is the Justice Axe, which can be obtained after defeating true secret boss (I said, lots of secrets). The snag is that this weapon has an unknown ability. Are you curious what it means? So are we.
Justice Axe stat “???” in Deltarune explained
Deltarune, like Toby Fox's previous game Undertale, greatly values mystery. Many locations or bosses are very well hidden, and you may not encounter them at all during “regular” playthrough. What's more, quite a few items have not obvious purpose (like Egg), some of them can be used to solve puzzles, but others seem to be just easter eggs. What is the case with Justice Axe, then?
This is a weapon that you will receive for defeating a secret boss. The only character who can wield it is Susie. It gives 12 AT and... well, that's right - the “???” stat. No one really knows what it means.
At this point it's hard to find a clear answer to the question of what the “???” statistic does. The description of the weapon itself states: "It has no special powers. However, in order to attain this item, you became much stronger". At least for now, it seems that this sentence perfectly fits, as the “???” seems to do nothing. Some suggest that it may be meaningful in the later chapters of the game. After all, Deltarune will have as many as 7 of them (although only chapter 5 is in production for the time being).
Secrets like Justice Axe or Shadow Mantle, however, are not all that distinguish Deltarune. A sizable number of puzzles, such as Nowhere or Mike code, are just a preview of what may await fans of the game in the chapters to come.
