The announcement of the Battlefield Labs program sparked a lot of enthusiasm among players, especially due to the revealed gameplay clips of the seventh installment. Even if they didn't dispel the skepticism of some fans, they remain a perfect topic for community discussion, which could finally glimpse the new installment of the shooter. Some people noticed that DICE probably decided to introduce new nationalities - at least that's how it looks at first glance.

British as playable soldiers?

The discussion starts with a Reddit thread, where the author highlighted the camouflage seen in yesterday's footage, which resembles the MTP (Multi-Terrain Pattern) - a design linked to the British Armed Forces since 2010. Players also notice the PLCE (Personal Load Carrying Equipment) and SA80 bayonets in the video, which are also typical of the British.

Many commentators on the above post share this opinion, comparing screenshots from the material to the actual uniforms of the British. This would mean that the developers will introduce nationalities that didn't appear in the modern installments of the Battlefield series.

Players see two possibilities here. One of the possibilities is setting the plot of Battlefield 7 in Europe, which many think would bring a fresh perspective to the universe, as the recent installments have centered on conflicts between the United States and Russia or China. Modern Europe would also allow for aesthetic changes to the new game. One piece of evidence supporting this theory is the first official artwork from the game, which showcased Gibraltar.

The second option suggested by fans is for EA DICE to introduce skins based on other nationalities, which would then not reveal any hint of the main plot. This, however, raised concerns among commentators who are against the return of "silly" cosmetic items, as they believe these spoiled the atmosphere of Battlefield in previous installments.

Dice is known to show grounded, gritty cosmetics in trailers and then release the game and add skins that are progressively goofier and clash with the game's tone.

Let’s not forget the 2042 trailer, while thrilling, if you look at a the soldiers, I think 90% of them were the military looking skins that only were given to the bots and never accessible to the players.

The release of Battlefield 7 is scheduled for 2025, so we should soon learn more about the plot. What do you think, do the British have a chance to become an important faction?
