Call of Duty Also in 2023; Activision Blizzard Confirms

Activision Blizzard's financial report for the first quarter of 2023 includes an interesting mention of a yet-to-be-announced Call of Duty game.

Financial report for the first quarter of this year published by Activision Blizzard showed the company's condition in an extremely positive light. The admirable results coincided with an unfavorable decision by the UK's Competition and Markets Authority, which helped ease the mood of worried investors (for more on this, I refer you to our earlier post).

However, the aforementioned document also contains additional information, including one that will certainly be of interest to fans of Call of Duty.

New installment of the series

On the third page of the report, in the section devoted to Activision Blizzard's planned ventures, we read:

"Our teams are hard at work on the next annual 'premium' installment of the hit series [CoD - editor's note], as well as on Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile - both of which are expected to be released at the end of this year. [...]"

This fragment clearly suggests that a major installment of the series is planned for 2023. However, the lack of a title and more detailed information indicate that the publisher is not yet ready to officially announce the game.

In the context of earlier indications

This note confirms earlier rumors, which we reported at the beginning of February. According to reports by respected industry insider Tom Henderson, Activision was said to have abandoned the plan for a one-year break in the pulishing cycle and work on a Call of Duty game, due for release in 2023.

Although the leak mentioned an alleged release date for the new CoD - set supposedly for November 10, 2023 - we still have to wait for a confirmation.
