Nintendo Switch Successor Coming Sooner Than We May have Expected?

The successor to the Nintendo Switch console has been the subject of much speculation and leaks. Recent reports seem to indicate that the Nintendo Switch 2 may hit the market sooner than expected.
We recently reported that the Japanese company has begun shipment of the first devkits of the new console model, and the developers of Dune: Awakening claim that their game could come to various platforms, including the Nintendo Switch 2. In turn, in May this year, Nintendo CEO Shuntaro Furukawa claimed that we definitely won't see the new console before April 2024 (while not giving any firm dates).

The latest details come from court documents regarding the recent case between Microsoft and the FTC. In a paragraph referring to why Microsoft does not track Nintendo's sales performance as opposed to PlayStation, the company mentions the Switch's successor.
According to the document, Nintendo is expected to release a successor next year, which could mean that the new console will arrive seven years after the Switch's release.

Microsoft's conviction that a successor to the Nintendo Switch will arrive as early as next year goes hand in hand with recent reports from companies such as Ubisoft, which also seem to suggest such a development.
The president of Nintendo's American division, Doug Bowser, highlighted however, that the company believes that the original Switch still has a few years of life left. In March, he said that they are entering uncharted territory with the new platform, and it is exciting for them. Although there are no official announcements yet regarding the future console, the video game industry is invariably looking optimistically toward a potential Nintendo Switch 2.
