Bethesda released the anticipated 1.2 beta update for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on Steam. The patch introduced, among other things, a new level of difficulty and performance improvements, which had been limping since the launch of the refreshed RPG.

Let's note that the patch is not yet available on other platforms (PS5 and XSX/S). The devs didn't provide an exact release date for the official version of the patch, but we probably won't have to wait long for it to be tested as part of the open beta.

TES: Oblivion Remastered - details of update 1.2

A new, sixth difficulty level called "Journeyman" has been added to Oblivion Remastered. It was placed between "Adept" and "Expert," and it should satisfy those for whom the former was too easy and the latter too difficult.

As for performance, the creators have fixed the issue of frame rate drop in Deepscorn Hollow, Black Rock Caverns, between Skingrad and Skingrad Castle, and south of Bravil Castle. Moreover, the game's open world stuttering has been reduced, and many elements have been optimized, such as the weather system and character animations.

Bethesda also improved the user interface, sound, gameplay, and game performance. Several occurring bugs were also fixed, such as disappearing markers on the map.

So, there are quite a few changes, but in the comments under the developers' post, players were expecting bigger optimization improvements. Maybe in the next patch?

To join the beta tests and check out the improvements, go to your Steam collection and right-click on The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, then select "Properties." Next, in the "Beta" tab, you need to select the "[beta]" version of the game.

Just a heads up, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on the Valve platform is on sale until tomorrow at 10:00 am PT. We will pay $39.99 for the game instead of the usual $49.99. You can also play the title as part of the Xbox Game Pass service.
