During this year's gamescom Opening Night Live, SEGA showed a new trailer for Sonic Superstars. The footage gives a deeper insight into the multiplayer mode, which will enable up to four users to play together.

How the cooperative mode will work out in practice, we will find out on October 17, when the game in question hits PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch.

  1. The game's main storyline will focus on the adventure of Sonic and his friends, who find themselves in the Northstar Islands. Their main goal will be to thwart the evil plans of Doctor Eggman. Interestingly, in this installment the sinister doctor has formed an unusual alliance with the criminal Fang.
  2. In terms of mechanics Sonic Superstars draws inspiration from both the early, two-dimensional parts of the series and introduces modern, three-dimensional elements.
  3. An interesting addition to the gameplay will be Chaos Emeralds - special stones that give access to various powers. Thanks to them, characters can, for example, create copies of themselves, float up waterfalls or change their form.

It doesn't stop there, because as you can see by watching the trailer above, SEGA has also unveiled an upcoming update to Sonic Frontiers. The update, called The Final Horizon, will be released on September 28 and will introduce a new storyline.
