Pixar's Onward Loses Revenue Due to Coronavirus

Last weekend's winner in the American box office was the animated film Onward. However, the latest production of Pixar did worse than expected.

Onward has scored the second weakest opening in the history of Pixar's productions. Only 2015's The Good Dinosaur did worse.

Onward, the latest animated production from Disney and Pixar studios, has conquered American cinemas. According to estimates, last weekend the title earned 40 million dollars on the local market, which gave it a leading position in tge box office. Nevertheless, the expectations were higher - it was estimated to be around 50 million. Worse than expected results may be caused by some viewers' fears of the coronavirus.

Nevertheless, analysts predict that Onward will do well in the next few weeks in cinemas. The production gets great reviews - on Rotten Tomatoes 86% of the critics and 96% of the viewers gave the movie a positive opinion. In addition, many American schools will soon start their holidays.

In second place was taken by The Invisible Man, which made its debut a week earlier and still attracts many horror film enthusiasts. The Way Back with Ben Affleck in the lead role also had a successful premiere and is number three on the list.

It is also worth noting that any day now Sonic the Hedgehog will cross the $300 million threshold of worldwide revenue.
