Pokemon Day 2023: Scarlet and Violet DLC & More!

This year marks the 27th anniversary of the Pokemon video game series. To celebrate, there were a ton of announcements, from Scarlet & Violet DLC to Pokemon Sleep and much more.

The Pokemon Company released a twenty-five-minute presentation celebrating Pokemon Day, or the anniversary of the release of the very first Pokemon games. The announcement revealed plans for Scarlet and Violet DLC, as well as updates to several other Pokemon titles, plus an announcement on Pokemon Sleep. You can watch the full announcement below.

Starting off with Scarlet & Violet content, two new Paradox Pokemon will begin appearing in Tera Raids today. They are Paradox versions of Suicine, called Walking Wake, and Virizion, called Iron Leaves. Walking Wake, a Water and Dragon type, is exclusive to Scarlet, while Iron Leaves, a Grass and Psychic type is exclusive to Violet.

Plus, there is a lot to look forward to with the Scarlet & Violet games. Two waves of DLC, called The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, are planned to release later this year. The first part, dubbed The Teal Mask, is set to release in Fall 2023, while the second part, The Indigo Disk, is scheduled for Winter 2023. Each DLC will also bring old Pokemon to the new games like Ninetales and Metagross. Both DLCs are available for pre-order now and will reward early buyers with some updated school uniforms and a code for a special Hisuian Zoroark.

Speaking of Hisuian Pokemon, Scarlet & Violet’s connection to Pokemon HOME, which is expected to bring Pokemon from Pokemon Legends: Arceus to the new games, still does not have a release date other than “Early 2023.” However, there is now the opportunity to catch various regional Vivillon patterns in Scarlet & Violet by importing postcards from Pokemon GO.

Also, today’s presentation finally revealed new information about Pokemon Sleep, a mobile game that had been announced way back in 2019. The game tracks the user’s sleep to study the sleeping habits of various Pokemon. According to the announcement, the sleep style the user has will correspond to certain Pokemon, eventually unlocking all kinds.

Paldean starters will also make their way to Pokemon Cafe Mix, plus the legendary Pokemon from Pokemon Sword, Zacian, will appear in Pokemon Unite. The presentation also revealed plans for a new Netflix show called Pokemon Concierge that appears to use a stop-motion animation style.

There was a lot to cover in Pokemon Day celebration. But out of everything, what announcement excited you the most? Was it the Scarlet & Violet DLC? Or have you been waiting to hear more about Pokemon Sleep? Leave a comment below letting us know your thoughts!
