Less than three weeks to go until the Nintendo Direct, where we'll finally get the Switch 2 price and launch date, but we'll have to wait a bit longer for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. In the meantime, we're still busy trading cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket, but the hype for the new game is real – especially with some interesting rumor making the rounds online.

Who else is getting Mega Evolution?

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is shaking things up by moving away from the classic turn-based combat and introducing real-time battles, where both Trainers and their Pokémon can move freely during fights. This new system is a big change, but one familiar feature, Mega Evolution, is finally making a comeback, marking its long-awaited return to the main series after nearly a decade.

Not every Pokémon gets a Mega Evolution, but we’ve already seen a few in the trailer, like Charizard, Kangaskhan, Ampharos, and Absol. So naturally, everyone’s speculating – who else will make the cut?

Centro Leaks posted on X that Victreebel is likely getting a Mega Evolution in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. According to him, insider Riddler Khu reportedly teased this last year. Some fans are hesitant to believe it since he’s been wrong about certain rumors before, but there’s supposedly another source backing it up.

In the trailer, we can see Victreebel as the next Pokémon in the user’s party, which could be a little hint, but there’s no official confirmation yet. As always, we’ll just have to wait and see. Personally, I’m more curious if the game will actually look better on the Switch 2.

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
