Sony Interactive Entertainment has shown off the sales figures for the PlayStation 5 console. We've also learned how some of the games available on PS5 are faring, including Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Returnal and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed the sales figures for PlayStation 5. It turns out that despite production problems and poor availability, by July 19, 2021 10 million units of the device have bee distributed around the world. This means that PS5 is the fastest-selling console in the history of the Japanese company.

On the same occasion we learned the popularity of some of the titles available on the device Japanese. And so Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which launched simultaneously with the console on November 12, sold over 6.5 million copies. Returnal and MLB: The Show 21, released in April, this year, sold over 560,000 and 2 million copies respectively (in the latter case, the result applies to all platforms, including PS4, XONE and XSX|S). The relatively new Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, released on June 11, has been purchased over 1.1 million times.

Sony is particularly proud of the fact that it achieved these results in times of pandemic and with a shortage of chips necessary to manufacture consoles. The company praised the Business Operations and Hardware Engineering and Operations teams that have contributed most to the success. The company also praised PlayStation 5's designers - whose ideas for the console include an SSD drive, 3D audio, and the DualSense controller with adaptive triggers and haptic vibrations - as well as the game developers from the PlayStation Studios family and partner companies.

Furthermore, Sony Interactive Entertainment has assured that it is constantly striving to ensure that the supply of its 9th-gen console exceeds the demand for it and the hardware becomes readily available to anyone who wishes to purchase it.
