PS5 Presentation Will Not Feature Games in 4K

Thursday's PlayStation 5 game lineup presentation will be streamed in 1080p and 30 fps. Sid Shuman from Sony Interactive Entertainment ensures that the games presented during the event will look even better on a 4K TV, but the resolution limitation made it easier to prepare the event during the pandemic.

Further details on the PS5 game show.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. The PS5 game lineup presentation will be broadcast in 1080p and 30 fps;
  2. Sony suggests it's best to watch the show with headphones on.

Sony announced on the official PlayStation blog that the PS5 game show this Thursday will be broadcast in 1080p and 30 fps. Sid Shuman, Sony's senior director of Interactive Entertainment, assured that the right games will look even better on a 4K TV, but thanks to the FullHD limitation, the event was easier to prepare under pandemic conditions.

"Now that the event is confirmed for June 11, I wanted to add that this pre-taped program will be broadcast at 1080p and 30 frames per second. This eased the show’s production process during a time when many of our team and developers are working from home. The games you’ll see on Thursday will look even better when you play them on PS5 with a 4K TV, as you’d expect," we read.

There was also a note about headphones - it's best to have them on ears while watching Thursday's show, because there will also be something related to sound.

"It’s also best if you watch while wearing headphones, if you can — there’s some cool audio work in the show, and it might be harder to appreciate if it’s pumped through your phone or laptop speakers," follows the entry.
