Blue Prince is an unquestionable king of head scratchers of the last weeks. Even its title is an intricate puzzle that can bring a smile to one’s face. However, that smile can sometimes make room for the expression of frustration as some of the riddles are very complex and require a specific way of thinking. There are multiple types of secrets to be solved in this game, like VAC Indicators or Trading Post, yet it appears that the most frustrating type can be safe code cracking. We have already covered the Boudoir safe giving some tips on how to find the answer, now it’s time to check how to deal with the armored crate that is located in the Study room.

What is the biggest fun in puzzle games can be also a source of the greatest frustration. Balancing out the difficulty of the riddles is a hard task, as everyone has a different knack for solving them. Blue Prince is a great example of this dilemma, as to unveil the mystery of Mt. Holly Estate, you will have to find answers to secrets of varying complexity scattered around the mansion. Let’s tackle them one by one, focusing on Study safe code.
Once you find yourself in the room, your clue is on the top of the table: a chessboard with only one piece being placed on it. You should take notice of the specific square it’s situated on – D8. It has a double meaning. We can read the position as “D-eight”, a homonym of “date”. This is nothing new in this production that the safe codes are some dates. However, in this case, there is no further guidance that would allow you to deduce what date the answer is. To find out, it is necessary to get to the drawing board, or in our case chessboard.
There is only one month whose name starts with the letter “D”, December. Hence, we can try going that way and using the code December 8th, which would be 1208. If you try opening the safe using such a number combination, you will be unpleasantly surprised, finding out that it’s not the answer. There is one more detail that will allow you to crack the code. Look at the board once more. You will see that the chess piece is on the black square, which can indicate a “negative”. Reversing the number completely also won’t work, so let’s try to change only the date format – 0812. And as you might have guessed, this is exactly the answer to the puzzle that will allow you to get to the safe’s content.
