Long Gameplay From Shadow Gambit; Promising Pirate Strategy Game
More than twenty-five minutes of gameplay from Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew has hit the web. It confirms that this tactical strategy game promises to be a wonderful offering for fans of the genre.
German studio Mimimi Games is not idle. After revealing the release date of Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew and presenting an entertaining gameplay trailer during the PC Gaming Show 2023, exclusive to IGN, the developer has published a long - more than twenty-five minutes - uncut gameplay footage. On it we can see one entire mission - with commentary from the game's lead designer, Moritz Wagner.
At the beginning, however, we see the Red Marley - a soul-endowed ghost ship that is our base - on which we perform a briefing, choosing companions and determining the landing point. Then the crew embarks on a mission to rescue Captain Harlock from a heavily guarded Inquisition outpost.
Once we get to the actual gameplay, we can see how much of an advantage the stealthy approach gives us - especially when we skillfully use the character's abilities. The main character, Afia, can teleport and perform powerful attacks. Quentin Albros, on the other hand, excels in diversion, and Teresa Lassiega - as a sharpshooter - can eliminate enemies from a distance.
In action, we can also see Shadow mode, which enable us to pause the game and issue commands to crew members to execute them at the same time. Especially useful here seems to be the ability to mark the positions of guards patrolling the area. It is also interesting that in case of death (?) of one of the undead members of our crew it is possible to resurrect him - however, we have a predetermined time before the situation becomes permanent.
In short, the game promises to be excellent for fans of tactical strategy games. As a reminder, let me add that Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew will be released on August 17 for PC, PS5 and XSX/S. From June 19 to 26 we will be able to check out the demo version, which will be made available as part of Steam Next Fest.
