Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened Launches - Lovecraftian Adventure Game Returns

In a few hours, Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, a remake of the 2006 adventure game that combined the atmosphere of a detective story set in the Victorian era with the Cthulhu mythos, will be released. The project turned out to be a breakthrough title for the Ukrainian studio Frogwares and remains one of the highlights in the team's output to this day.

1. The game will debut today on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5.
2. The standard PC edition will be available for purchase on Steam, GOG.com and Epic Games Store for $39. The PC edition will be unlocked today at 5 p.m. CET.
3. The game is also available on Xbox consoles, on Microsoft, PlayStation, and Nintendo eShop.
4. In addition to the standard edition, two special editions are also available. The Deluxe edition comes with a pack of additional quests titled Whispered Dreams. The Premium edition, on the other hand, will additionally offer a digital soundtrack and artbook.

Turbulent development

The revamped version of the game was developed despite the ongoing war, and the developers see the game as "middle finger" aimed at the Russians attacking their homeland.

1. Before the title was revealed, the game operated under the code name Project Palianytsia, referring to a traditional Ukrainian bread made from wheat flour, the name of which is extremely difficult for Russian speakers to pronounce.
2. For this reason, during hostilities in Ukraine, the word is sometimes used to identify Russian spies claiming to be of Ukrainian nationality.
