Star Wars Battlefront 2 Wrecked by Immortality Glitch and Cheaters

Fan-made private servers are now available in Battlefront 2. This is a response to the recent plague of cheaters and the immortality glitch they caused. Fan servers enable us to create our own scenarios.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Battlefront II faces a growing plague of cheaters on PC;
  • "1HP Bug" makes characters immortal;
  • The fan project "Kyber.gg" enables us to create and join private servers;
  • It has support for a wide range of modifications.

A phantom menace hangs over 2017's Battlefront II. The game is facing a growing scourge of cheaters. In addition, peace on the servers is threatened by the so-called "1HP Bug". It causes that the health bars of all playable characters in the session can not go below the value of 1, thus making them virtually immortal.. The problem affects only the PC version, although its transfer to consoles is very likely.

At the moment, the gamer council does not have a clear answer as to where this anomaly comes from. Some believe that it has been hiding in the game's code for all these years. Others are convinced that it's caused by cheaters.

According to the latter, more likely theory, the used tools are still active in the session, even after leaving it by the cheater(s). Players usually have no other choice but to leave the "infected" lobbyor... go exploring the map (by default, leaving the battle territory for a long time ends in death).

The community tried with all available means to bring the problem to public attention, so that the devs at DICE deal with it as soon as possible. However, given that they ended support for the title last year and have "more important" things on their mind at the moment - read: trying to fix Battlefield 2042 - the chances of such an intervention are very slim. Promptly, fans of the game decided to take matters into their own hands.

The result of their work is "Kyber.gg" - a fan project that enables us to create private servers and join them. The tool has a number of options thanks to which we can adjust the gameplay rules to our needs. Additionally, thanks to the support for cosmetic and some gameplay modying mods - server admins can choose the mods required to join a session - creating your own scenarios is at your fingertips. An army of youngsters supported by Anakin versus Ewoks and Baby Yoda? No problem.

Battlefront II mods can be downloaded from Nexus Mods.

Private servers are additionally secured with an anti-cheat system, so the crooks shouldn't cause any more problems. To use the tools, select a server from the list available on Kyber.gg (or create your own), then download the Kyber client, run it, and launch Battlefront II. It's worth reminding that the tools have only just been released and they probably have some bugs, which are expected to be patched in the coming months.

In addition, there is concern that EA (the game's publisher) may ban the use of the tools - after all, it's a fan project. However, due to the lack of plans for the next installment of Battlefront such a move seems unlikely. It is also worth noting that private servers are available only on PC. Kyber should extend the game's life for several more years. It also shows that the Force in the Battlefront community is extremely strong.
