On the official Star Wars website (vide Bingefire) Disney has announced a new film featuring Din Djarin and Grogu in the leading roles. It will be titled The Mandalorian & Grogu with Jon Favreau as the director. Favreau has also taken on the role of producer alongside Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni. Filming for the movie is slated later this year and Favreau expresses a positive outlook for the project.

I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.

This film aims to inaugurate a new chapter in the Star Wars universe under Disney's helm. Further productions are in the pipeline, including a spectacle that will showcase the future of Rey. According to Kathleen Kennedy the tale of Din Djarin and Grogu is a perfect fit for the big screen.

In addition to the information about The Mandalorian & Grogu film, Disney has also delivered a brief message confirming that Dave Filoni is working on the second season of Ahsoka. This puts an end to speculations about the format in which the journey of the mentioned character will continue. There were discussions about whether it would be another season of the series or a movie. As of early January, Rosario Dawson mentioned that she had not discussed a second season or the prospects of its creation with anyone.

For Star Wars fans, this is very good news as they now have clarity on what's in store for some of the beloved characters. Nevertheless not everyone may embrace the idea of a cinematic adventure in The Mandalorian & Grogu and some viewers would prefer to stick with the serialized format.
