Modders are Already Gearing Up to Patch Starfield

Although Starfield is not out yet, modders are already preparing to patch the game. The Starfield Community Patch project comes about mainly due to the fact that Bethesda's earlier titles were mostly buggy on launch.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. Modders have set up a project called Starfield Community Patch to fix the game's bugs.
  2. SCP will not focus on adding new content.
  3. The patch is to be available to everyone for free.

Anyone who has dealt with any title from Bethesda probably knows how many bugs the company's works can contain. Anticipating that a similar fate will befall the eagerly awaited Starfield, a group of modders has founded a project called Starfield Community Patch. Its goal is to fix the bugs present in Starfield after its release.

SCP will not add new content to the game (as modifications usually do). The project is to focus solely on patching Starfield, and primarily on removing exploits and fixing bugs related to tasks, scripts, spelling or missing objects. Interestingly, you don't have to be a modder to have the opportunity to help with SCP; anyone will be able to report new bugs.

Although Starfield is expected to run on Creation Engine 2 - the new version of the engine used for years by Bethesda Game Studios - modders are nevertheless expecting many shortcomings. That's why it was decided to set up the SCP project, which is to be available for free to all players.

"SCP should never require any payment, including all sorts of "early access" elements. The patch itself will allow donations (...) to be made, which will be distributed among the main contributors to the project."

Starfield Community Patch will be available on Nexus Mods and GitHub. On PC, there are bound to be quite a few mods available after the release, including through the aforementioned websites. Bethesda, in turn, announced that Starfield will support mods on both PCs and Xbox Series X/S.

The release Starfield is scheduled for next year. The game will be available through the Game Pass subscription.
