Steam Now Enables Us to Test Games for Free; Dead Space Remake Blazes Trail

A new Steam feature enables the players to test a game before they buy it. First to feature it is this year's remake of the cult horror game.

Steam is testing a new feature that will appeal to many gamers. The new solution enables you to test a game for free before you buy it.

Free trial period

The aforementioned feature differs from classic demos in that it does not impose artificial limits on the user's in-game content. The tested game will be no different from the full version.

The only limitation during testing will be the time given to the user to play the title.. After the free period expires, the player will be able to decide whether to buy the game and continue playing, or abandon further gameplay.

This type of option seems particularly useful in the PC environment, where the potential customer, in addition to checking out the game, will have the opportunity to test the performance of his PC with a particular title.

First implementation of the new system

At the moment, the only game supporting the new feature is Dead Space Remake, released at the beginning of the year. The free test period (lasting 90 minutes) for this title will remain active until May 29. The 20% discount on the game also lasts until that day.

If the new Steam feature proves itself in action, it is possible that Valve and developers will be eager to apply it to more games. A widespread solution of this kind would be a pleasant convenience for gamers, who until now have had to resort to refunds after making an unsatisfactory blind purchase.
