The director of the acclaimed Baldur's Gate 3 and "face" of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke, gave an interesting interview for the Dungeons & Dragons channel on YouTube (footage below).

The conversation touched on a number of issues relating to the latest hit from the Belgian studio, however, one of the most interesting concerned the future of the developer standing behind the game's success.

Vincke apparently has no plans to settle, and in response to a question from presenter Todd Kenereck about what works currently inspire him, he replied: "you're asking me about my next game, so I won't answer that question."

Larian's CEO at the same time admitted that the finalization of work on Baldur's Gate 3 edition for PlayStation 5 was the point at which he ended his involvement in the title's development and has therefore already moved on to the next project.

"The PS5 version is now available, we just uploaded it, so I'm done. I am now going to move on to the next game."

Of course, this does not mean the end of Larian Studios' work on improving BG3. Vincke explained that while some of the developers will be working on further patches and Xbox release of the game, he at the same time will already be preparing a new game.

It is worth noting that the director of Baldur's Gate 3 hasn't ruled out the possibility of adding new content to the RPG that fans are asking for, or will still be asking for. However, Vincke pointed out that all this will already be handled by a designated group of developers, not the entire studio.

"Fans will come to us and say, 'We need this, this and this.' All this will come, but there will be a designated team to deliver it."

It is also worth mentioning the words of Larian's boss, who admitted that his next project has been "sitting in his head for a long time."

The simplest answer that comes to mind here seems to be the third part of the highly regarded Divinity: Original Sin series. However, as Vincke himself admitted, he likes science fiction in addition to fantasy. So perhaps it's a new IP with action set in space that's sitting in the designer's head?

One thing is for sure - Vincke's mysterious project is still a very distant matter. Especially if we pay attention to the size of recent projects created by Larian Studios.
