The work of Larian Studios has become the best-rated production of the year on Metacritic. Baldur's Gate 3, however, has far fewer reviews than the latest Zelda, so the situation could change quickly.

Baldur's Gate 3 currently has 26 ratings on Metacritic and still maintains a lead over the latest Zelda with a score of 97/100. What's more, the title has just been named the best rated game in the history of OpenCritic, which was happily announced on X (Twitter) by Tom Butler of Larian Studios.
At the same time, the game established a new all-time activity recordon Steam. Yesterday, 875,343 people played the gameon Valve's platform - approximately 4,000 people less than needed to break this year's record of Hogwarts Legacy .
Baldur's Gate 3 is currently the hottest title on the market. The immense popularity of the game has made it overtake The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Metacritic when it comes to the average rating from critics.
Despite the fact that Baldur's Gate 3 is currently the best-rated game on Metacritic, this does not mean that it will remain so until the end of the year. This is due not only to the fact that several more strong games will hit the market (such as Starfield), but also from the number of available' reviews - Larian Studios' game has far fewer reviews so far than the latest installment of Link's adventures..
Let's add that the latest installment of Baldur's Gate has recently received several hundred improvements, and more editorial reviews are on the way (including ours), so the situation will change dynamically. Nintendo's exclusive, on the other hand, can boast high sales, reaching about 20 million copies.
Here are the next spots on the list of the ten best-rated games of 2023 according to Metacritic.
There will probably be changes in the Top 10. Recall that there are still a few high-profile launches to come this year - among them the aforementioned Starfield or Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
