The World of Witcher in Civilization 6 Even Better With Extra Mods

Fans are developing the excellent modification called The World of Witcher, creating small additions to it to make playing the Witcher variant of Civilization 6 more enjoyable.

One of the most interesting fan projects for Sid Meier's Civilization VI is The World of Witcher, a series of mods that enable you to bring this turn-based strategy to the universe of The Witcher.

The creators of have completed all the nations and developed a map recreating the Continent. However, they are not the only ones involved in developing The World of Witcher. Today we would like to draw your attention to the so-called submods, i.e. smaller modifications by other developers that expand this Witcher project.

Small mods to improve The World of Witcher

All of these small mods have been collected on SteamWorkshop in a list called The World of The Witcher - Complementary Mods. There are ten projects on the list. You can install them all at once or only some of thems. Some were developed specifically for The Witcher mod, while others were created for the main version of Civ6 and have only been tested as working well with The World of Witcher.

  1. Alternative Leader Fallbacks - In the basic mod, faction leaders are represented by cards from Gwent. This submod changes that, offering alternative screens modeled after those from Sid Meier's Civilization VI.
  2. Gedemo Avalon City-State and Gedemo Camelot City-State - these projects add title cities as factions.
  3. Northern Realms - enables you to play on a map encompassing the Kingdoms of the North.
  4. R.E.D Total War for The Witcher - a mod that changes the scale of units and their formations so that troops look more realistic. It is a reworking of a popular modification for Civilization 6, which also needs to be installed.
  5. Real Era Stop - enables you to end gameplay on a specific era. This prevents elements outside the Witcher mod from infiltrating the game.
  6. Remove Official Civs - this mod was not created with The World of Witcher in mind, but it works perfectly with this project. It removes a wide variety of interface elements of all the original leaders, so that when playing in the new setting, we do not have to see occasional references to historical characters.
  7. Stylish Governor Portraits - Replaces ugly portraits of governors with icons.
  8. Unique District Icons - in The World of Witcher some icons are taken directly from Sid Meier's Civilization VI. This mod substitutes them with graphics from CD Projekt's games.
  9. Valkrana of Nilfgaard - A humorous project that adds the titular necromancer as an alternative leader of Nilgaard. Of the entire list, this mod is the one that most people will probably not install.

The World of The Witcher - Complementary Mods is a good example of the advantages of SteamWorkshop. If all these mods had to be installed manually, it would not be worth the effort for many players. In the Steam Workshop, however, this is done with the touch of a button, without agonizing over manually watching for updates or worrying about incompatibility.
