Thrawn's Creator Had Better Idea for Ezra's Plot; Dave Filoni Wasted Ahsoka's Potential?
The recently concluded Ahsoka introduced Thrawn and Ezra Bridger to the live-action universe. However, the creator of the former character believes that their potential was wasted.
The arrival of Grand Admiral Thrawn was foreshadowed in virtually every episode of Ahsoka. Fans prepared many theories about the villain and Ezra Bridger, but none of them turned out to be close to what Dave Filoni served us. Could their plot have played out completely differently?
This is the opinion of Timothy Zahn, i.e. the author of Heir to the Empire, a book in which Grand Admiral Thrawn first appeared. The writer has already shared his idea of bringing the villain back to the canon in 2021 (vide Screen Rant).
"The way I see it, Thrawn convinces Ezra that there are worse things than the Empire. One of my favorite examples is show titled White Collar, in which the characters don't trust each other, but act together. Ezra would never trust Thrawn and would try to answer the question, 'What is he playing at, what is he trying to convince me to do, and what should I not do?' At the same time, Thrawn would say to him: 'I need your help, how can I get it so you don't run away?'".
It must be admitted that the plot of Thrawn and Ezra Bridger could, and even should, have played out quite differently. Cooperation of the two characters to survive in an unknown galaxy would have been a very good solution. At the same time, it would have brought something new to the Star Wars canon, and viewers would not get a repeat of the classic, which is undoubtedly another battle between good and evil.
However, perhaps in the future Dave Filoni will decide to introduce some surprises to this thread that will make the world of Star Wars not rely on tricks familiar from the past, exploring the fight between the light and dark sides of the Force or the clashes between the Empire and the Republic.
