Update: CD Projekt RED announced another Night City Wire broadcast, dedicated to the Phantom Liberty expansion, on September 14 at 5:00 p.m. CET / 8 a.m. PST. The developer intends to discuss, among other things, the character played by Idris Elba, as well as new skills and other gameplay elements, and "throw in a surprise or two."

Fans of Cyberpunk 2077 are slowly rubbing their hands together, as the massive Phentom Liberty expansion is set for release in just two weeks. However, it is worth remembering that alongside the DLC CD Projekt RED's game will also receive an update marked 2.0. The massive patch will introduce a number of new mechanics and changes to the base game, which will add variety to the fun in Night City.

In the latest press release the developers shared details about the new features of the vehicle system.

New activities on the streets of Night City

The latest post on the game's official website touches on topics related to changes in vehicle mechanics. Among the new features are:

  1. the ability to fire while driving a car or motorcycle. Drivers of single-track vehicles will additionally be able to use melee weapons to attack opponents, or even to damage the tires of an enemy vehicle;
  2. a new type of weapon mounted directly on selected car models;
  3. new vehicle hacking mechanics enabling us to stop, accelerate or even blow up the victim's vehicle.

All indications are that the novelties proposed by the studio in Update 2.0 will make the city streets much more dangerous, but also interesting. Players interested in more details are encouraged to read the full content of the entry.

As a reminder: Update 2.0 will be available for free to all owners of the basic version of Cyberpunk 2077 and is expected to hit the game soon. Paid DLC Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty on the other hand, will debut on September 26.
