The Warhammer SKULLS virtual event brought an announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters, a tactical RPG with a turn-based combat system. The title suggests that the project will refer to the classic Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate from 1998.
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters is coming exclusively to PC and will be released next year. The game will be sold both on Steam and Epic Games Store.
During the game we control space marines from the Grey Knights order. We will command Demon Hunters who have been sworn to eradicate the corruption of chaos from the empire of mankind. The game will offer only single player mode, enabling us to play through an extensive story campaign.
What's interesting, Aaron Dembski-Bowden, writer of many books set in the universe of Warhammer 40,000 universe, is responsible for the script. The story will focus on the conspiracy, the aim of which is to infect many worlds with a galactic plague known as the Blossom.
Unfortunately, not much is known about the gameplay. We only know that the game will focus on small-scale battles, and players will be able to use multiple character classes and a large selection of weapons. Moreover, a key role will be played by the use of environmental elements, and the gameplay will be made more attractive by enemies mutating during the battles.
