2K Games to Publish Marvel's Strategy Game and Borderlands Spin-off

Leaks appeared in the web about the next projects of the publisher 2K Games. Among them we find a turn-based strategy game set in the Marvel universe and a spin-off to the Borderlands series.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Leaks about new 2K Games projects have appeared on the web;
  • Firaxis is working on a turn-based strategy game in the vein of XCOM, set in the Marvel universe;
  • Gearbox, in turn, is developing a spin-off to Borderlands, which will focus on Tiny Tina.

A leak appeared on Reddit, concerning unannounced projects on which studios owned by 2K Games are working. Its author indicated that the information should be treated with caution, because he is unable to verify them. After some time, however, they were referred to by a well-known journalist from Bloomberg, Jason Schreier, who confirmed their reliability.

Among the titles mentioned in the leak was a new project from Firaxis. The developers are working on a turn-based strategy game set in the universe of Marvel's superheroes. Currently, the game is marked with a temporary codename CODA and is supposed to be a tactical game reminiscent of the XCOM series. This profile would fit the aforementioned studio, as it was responsible for the famous science fiction series as well. What's more, it was revealed that the characters in the game will be voiced by well-known actors.

The leak also featured some information about a new Borderlands game. It's a spin-off that would focus on the underaged heroine known to the players from the second part of the FPS - Tiny Tina. The game is supposed to look similar to the rest of the titles in the series, and Gearbox is responsible for its development. Currently, it is codenamed Daffodil, but eventually it is to be released under the name Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.

The last of the games mentioned in the leak, in turn, is a project codenamed Volt. It is described as a specific combination of Cthulhu mythos with Saints Row. It wasn't given directly which studio is responsible for the development but it might be Hangar13 (known from the Mafia series). The team currently works on a title described as a sci-fi open-world game with supernatural elements.

It is possible that we will see some of these projects during the upcoming E3. Jason Schreier noted, however, that he does not expect to see all of them presented during the event. Time will tell.
