Almost a year after initial release, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide received an important patch 13, that is focused on overhauling classes in the game. The update seems to be successful as most players are happy with the changes it introduced. Since it centers around revamping skill trees and inherently, how the playable characters in the title can be utilised, it is a great opportunity to revisit this production or give it a try. Because of those deep changes in the core mechanics, many builds are already outdated. We have updated our tips on how to create a viable Zealot build. Continue on reading for the God Emperor!

Zealot Build in Warhammer 40K Darktide Patch 13 (Skill Tree)

To create a useful and fun to play Zealot build in the WH40K Darktide patch 13, let’s go for close range combat focused on toughness and melee damage. It may be a good idea to go for Tigrus Mk II Heavy Eviscerator as your primary weapon and Artemia Mk III Purgation Flamer as a secondary one, though feel free to experiment with what suits best your playstyle. Bear in mind though that Flamer is a very powerful weapon that will make it a lot easier for you to shed through waves of enemies. When it comes to talents, follow the path as below:

  1. Pick Disdain and continue down the route until Vicious Offering. This will boost your character’s toughness and provide mechanics to replenish it on kills, while adding more damage while striking enemies.
  2. Go back to the middle path and choose Anoint in Blood, then Purge the Unclean, Restoring Faith and down to Immolation Grenade. Those talents will boost your Flamers base damage while being close to your foes. Also, you will be able to mitigate some incoming injuries. Immolation Grenade will allow for some crowd control action.
  3. From there, continue left on the path and down to Until Death getting some toughness and melee damage boost on the way while also improving your movement speed. The Talent will be your last resort, granting you short Invulnerability.
  4. On your way down the talent tree acquire Holy Revenant that will help you regain health after Until Death ends. Then get Benediction to further improve toughness. Later buy Fury of the Faithful with its additional charge update called Redoubled Zeal.
  5. Going further, get all the small boosts and buy the next talents – Punishment, Faithful Frenzy and Sustained Assault. Those small perks can prove really useful while repeatedly slashing the enemies encouraging aggressive playstyle.
  6. Take the road down from Punishment and buy both, The Master’s Retribution and Invocation of Death. First one provides some breathing room while being hit, while the other reduces Combat Ability Cooldown on hit, yet again promoting aggressive play.
  7. Get the last 3 skills in the tree – Blazing Piety that improves Critical Hit Chance when in Fury, Fury Rising which makes it easier to trigger Fury, and finally Righteous Warrior further increasing Critical Hit Chance from the Blazing Piety.

As you can see, this Zealot build rewards very aggressive playstyle and running straight into action. It allows an unending cycle of fast and vicious slashes that fuel the following actions. When in trouble, there are mechanics in form of Until Death that allow for retaliation and quickly getting back to action, or when things get messy, for a swift retreat.

Armed with all the information gathered here, go out there and bring death to the tides of darkness for the God Emperor.
