Update (June 19th)

It all felt too good to be true, and turns out, it wasn’t. Thanks to Insider Gaming, we now know that the whole “interview” with MTN wasn’t real, so Crimson Desert isn’t coming out on November 2nd after all. There’s also a rumor going around on Reddit that it might launch on November 30th, but at this point, we’re probably better off just waiting for an official announcement and hoping it still happens sometime this year.

We’re almost halfway through 2025, so it’s a good time to check in on Crimson Desert – the single-player open-world game from the creators of Black Desert Online that was first announced back in 2019. We got a rough release window last year, but now that late 2025 is getting closer, do we finally have an exact launch date?

Everything we know about Crimson Desert release date

At The Game Awards 2024, Pearl Abyss revealed a new Crimson Desert gameplay trailer, packed with boss fights, wyvern-riding, slick combat, and open-world exploration. Most importantly, it confirmed the game’s release window: Q4 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Since then, though, things have been pretty quiet, aside from a BlackSpace Engine showcase at GDC in March. But on June 12th, we finally got another glimpse on a new gameplay video at Summer Game Fest.

This clip is less than a minute and a half, so it’s no surprise we’re all getting impatient, especially since there’s was no new info on the release date. Some of us got really worried it might get delayed again.

But the good news is, a South Korean site, MTN, published an article on June 17th where Pearl Abyss confirmed that Crimson Desert will launch on November 2nd, 2025. We’re just waiting on them to make the official global announcement now.

Crimson Desert’s engine has me hyped

I’m pretty sure we’re all dying to get our hands on this game and see what BlackSpace (the new engine behind Crimson Desert and their other upcoming titles) can really do. I’m definitely excited to see what this tech marvel brings to the table. I’m very curious about how the next-gen water effects, praised hair physics, and the way objects react during battles will actually look and feel.

It’s also interesting to see what the devs end up delivering since this game’s been in the works for a while and went through some big changes. Originally, Crimson Desert was supposed to be a multiplayer prequel to Black Desert Online. But then in 2020, the development shifted, and the studio redefined it as a solo play experience.

Still, Pearl Abyss has kept the door open for multiplayer features down the line, similar to the approach taken with GTA Online. They’ve talked about possible co-op modes and big battles, but nothing’s set in stone yet.

Been with gamepressure.com since 2019, mostly writing game guides but you can also find me geeking out about LEGO (huge collection, btw). Love RPGs and classic RTSs, also adore quirky indie games. Even with a ton of games, sometimes I just gotta fire up Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley, KOTOR, or Baldur's Gate 2 (Shadows of Amn, the OG, not that Throne of Bhaal stuff). When I'm not gaming, I'm probably painting miniatures or admiring my collection of retro consoles.
