There are only three episodes left of this great series, with which we will later come to say goodbye. Shogun is slowly heading towards the finale, which will be the culmination of all the events so far, as well as those that will take place in the coming episodes, because the coming end doesn’t mean that not much will happen to the characters anymore. It looks like a lot more will change in their lives, especially since some will now face difficult choices.

For it is in Shogun episode 8, titled Abyss of Life, after what happened last time, that Toranaga is forced to accept his own defeat and, together with his defeated clan, move to Edo. And just ahead of Blackthorne, the stranger who became embroiled in the local conflict, is a difficult choice – he has to decide on which side his loyalties lie. So John doesn’t have it lightly and must think carefully before taking sides.
