Despite working on his own projects, Zack Snyder has expressed a desire to direct a movie from the DC universe. Which superhero would the American take on?
Most fans of superhero cinema are familiar with Zack Snyder. Such movie as 300, Justice League or Watchmen. are just part of his extensive portfolio. Recently, the director revealed that he would like to work with James Gunn on the new DC universe, and on one hypothetical project in particular.
Such movie as Man of Steel or Army of the Dead have their loyal fans, as well as a rather sizable group of haters. Zack Snyder's productions have, as of late, begun to get a lot of flak from critics around the world. On Rotten Tomatoes, for example, Sucker Punch was positively reviewed by only 22% of reviewers.
Between 2004 and 2010, Zack Snyder received really great reviews for his productions. His debut in the world of great cinema i.e. Dawn of the Living Dead received a rating of 76% on the aforementioned website, while Watchmen is a must-see item for fans of the DC universe. The American recently stated that he is ready to return to this world to once again create the character of Batman.
Ahead of the 57-year-old it the premiere of Rebel Moon: Part 1 - Child of Fire, however, his thoughts were recently not far from the universe of fellow filmmaker James Gunn. Snyder has expressed a desire to work with the DC Studios co-manager to direct the new Batman. The American is eager to tell us about the adventures of Batman after the hero's return from retirement, as perfectly described by Frank Miller in his comic book.
If The Dark Knight Returns becomes a reality, then perhaps critics as well as fans of DC and Batman will look at Zack Snyder with a kinder eye. The near future will see the release of adaptations of the exploits of Penguin, Wonder Woman and, of course, Superman, among others. Who knows, maybe we need another project starring Batman?
