Seven The Days Long Gone: Why did I lose my entire inventory and all the skills?

After starting Seven: The Days Long Gone for the first time you reach Hallard city and start "The Job" main quest. This mission is a complex tutorial. During it your hero has all chips and active skills (e.g. invisibility) that you can use freely. The second part of this quest gives you access to weapons, gadgets and armor pieces. Sadly, all of this is available only in the prologue and you won't be able to keep any of these items/abilities and use them in new locations.
Teriel gets arrested after completing "The Job" mission. Your character is sent to a penal colony on Peh island. This means that you lose all weapons, gadgets, pieces of armor and most of the chips and the abilities. You lose them forever so don't look for a chest hidden somewhere in the starting location that can contain Teriel's goods. You have to start all over again. A lot of time will pass until you get all abilities again.
Warning - The same goes for various items (junk, medicaments, new weapons and armours etc.) that you get during the first main quest. Don't bother with searching for them because you won't be able to keep these items.
