Reaching Tatooine
Tatooine is not accessible from the very beginning of the game. Before you can access it, you must complete several story missions on the Toshara moon and repair the Trailblazer's hyperdrive.
You must unlock the main quest Hyperspace, which allows you to use the hyperdrive. One of the three newly unlocked quests, The Heavy, requires traveling to Tatooine. The first step is to talk to the sheriff on the Tatooine surface.
Tatooine orbit
You'll first find yourself in the planet's orbit. Two hostile factions can be fighting here - you can either join the battle on the side of the faction you have better relations with or ignore them.
To land on the planet, fly to it and interact with it. The Trailblazer will land in the wasteland, but later you'll be able to unlock more landing sites, which we've marked on our map.
Tatooine surface
Tatooine is a large desert planet, home to a variety of smugglers and criminals. The most important faction on this planet is the Hutt Cartel led by Jabba the Hutt- you can find Jabba's palace out in the wastes, although initially you cannot visit it. There are also Imperial forces present.
The map is vast and rather diverse - the central region is mountainous, the eastern is a salt desert and the western is a sand desert.
Mos Eisley
Mos Eisley is the largest city on Tatooine, home to various criminals and bounty hunters. At almost every step you'll encounter Imperial soldiers, guarding certain locations and forbidding entry. Within the city you can find a guarded area owned by the Hutt Cartel and a space port with an available landing site.
While in Mos Eisley you can find Treasures, meet quest givers and trade with merchants.
Bestine
Bestine is a small city completely controlled by the Empire - you'll need to avoid patrols and be careful when breaking the law.
There are merchants, quest givers, treasures, collectibles and a landing site for the Trailblazer.
Factions on Tatooine
The main faction of this planet is the Hutt Cartel, led by Jabba the Hutt - in the game you can visit Jabba's Palace and meet this famous figure in person.
The Cartel's bases are located both in the wasteland and in Mos Eisley. In the city, there is also a vault located within this faction's territory.
In addition to the Hutt Cartel, you'll encounter Imperial forces in many locations on Tatooine - they may be guarding access to certain areas or buildings.
Collectibles
There are tons of different collectibles hidden all over Tatooine and we've marked them all on the map. You can find them out in the wastes and the aforementioned cities.
The secrets include Jet Kordo's legacy, encrypted entries, ISB reports, and Jet's journals.
Treasures, Nix's treasures, and smuggler caches
While exploring Tatooine, you can search for treasures- the in-game map will show you how many you still have to collect.
The planet hides not only regular treasure but also Nix Treasures tied to your animal companion.
A separate group are Smuggler Caches - containers partially buried in the ground, which Kay can access with the Holotracker.
Characters
You'll meet many NPCs on Tatooine, mainly quest givers and Intel characters. You'll learn about new quests through meetings, exploring and eavesdropping.
There are also many traders and service providers available. You can visit, e.g. the scavengers, smugglers, tailors, and the mechanics.
Important locations
Fast travel is available while on Tatooine (on orbit, on planet surface and in cities). You must first discover these points. While traversing the wasteland, it can be helpful to leave your speeder in places you need to return to later, as the game allows you to quickly travel to that location.
There is at least one canteen in each city - these will let you advance through quests, meet unique NPCs and find new secrets.
In the wasteland, you can discover
- artifact locations,
- caves,
- Imperial terminals,
- posts,
- camps,
- hideouts,
- vaults.
Many have treasures associated with them. There are also mini-games to play. These include Sabacc tables, Fathier Races, and galactic street food.
