Once the bouncer throws Tracy out of the club, knock on the metal door that has just closed behind you.

Finish your conversation with the security and approach the trash container (in the corner, on the left). Try to go through the bags. Unfortunately, the nearby hobo will start bugging Tracy immediately.

Richard (much younger of course) will leave the club - go towards him. Tracy will be interrupted by some photographer (from KurtzLabs). He will give her his business card - finish your dialogue sequence and approach Richard. Ask him for help to get rid of the hobo and follow him to the trash container.

Wait for Richard to react and search the trash bags - Tracy will look for her talisman, i.e. her music box. She will manage to find it (you can examine it and open it in the inventory).

Before you exit the area, call your father (who was trying to reach Tracy while she was going through the trash bags).
