Doom Eternal: Extra lives - what are they and how I can use them?

Below you will find out what are the extra 1UP lives in Doom Eternal. Our guide also reveals how to get extra lives, how to benefit from them in the future and how to check the amount of extra lives you have at a particular moment.
Extra lives allow you to resurrect the hero after his death. This allows you to continue the game without having to go back to the last checkpoint and repeat a particular part of the game.
Extra lives are most useful during challenging battles in the game. You can increase your chances of winning a certain battle, because even if you die, you can return to combat and continue fighting demons in just a few seconds.
You can find extra lives in the game world and you can treat them as a kind of a secret - look for helmet icons similar to the one in the picture above. Unfortunately, to reach many extra 1UP lives you will have to climb or explore the environment very carefully in order to find walls that can be demolished.
Touch the levitating 1UP green helmet to add 1 extra life to the pot.
Information about the number of extra lives is displayed in the upper left corner of the screen.
Important note - Any extra life used is irretrievably lost.. You won't get it back even if you return to the last checkpoint. Try not to lose extra lives in simpler battles and save them for more difficult battles.
